Pirates are the new awesome?

so, we all got tickets to see pirates of the caribbean last night, crossing our fingers that even though we were not hardcore enough to make it to the midnight showing, that making it on opening day was still going to afford the possibility of seeing lots of people in pirate garb.

the pirate scarf worn cowboy style replaced the traditional eyepatch of the first screening. eyepatches were so 2003.

we brought our friends jordan and paul,

liz jeremy and emily

and juliann, lindsay, kathryn, derek and spencer.

We came early and stood in line for an hour so that we could all sit toghether in the theatre. It was a great time to watch pirates in their natural habitat, doing patentedly pirate things. like dance dance revolution.

betsy got the nerve up to ask the busty pirate and the guy that brings his own mug to the movies if she could take a picture of them

when they didn't bite or try to cut her with a sword, betsy decided to get in the photo with them.

i showed them that i had brought a skull and crossbones pirate scarf, so they let me get in a shot too. i think they liked us so much that they almost wanted to invite us to be a part of their official SF pirate guild.

Betsy smuggled in cookie treats for everyone in our group.

Here we are looking a little smug, because little did everyone know, the cookies were made with half white and half whole-wheat flour!

You don't even know how healthy that tasty morsel is, Jordan!

i think i might have been one of the only ones in the group that really liked this movie. that's it. you guys are all out of the pirate club.

The Good Ol Days are the new awesome

Guess where I was around this time in 2003 (aka Provo Summer of Fun)?

Why don't you tell us, vintage photo of Marsha?

That's right! None other than with many of Provo's finest, watching the first midnight showing of the original Pirates of the Caribbean. That's where.

We passed around an eyepatch and fell in love with an eyelinered Johnny Depp together. Remember this, Erin, Cindy and Marsha? I know that Brigham was there too, but I apparently was not as good at documenting things back then because I have no photos of him, and these two photos that I do have were so dark that i had to tweak out the contrast so that you could see our best pirate grimaces.

I wanted to go to a midnight screening of the new Pirates movie, but apparently I don't have the late night stamina that I did 3 years ago. Seeing a screening tomorrow night is going to have to be just as good.
