New Jersey is the new awesome

jk, jk...I actually went to NYC for 4th of July weekend but I did spend one fantastic day in Jersey City. Seriously. I did. Don't knock it til you try it.

I flew out on the red eye last Thursday night. I love you Jet Blue.

When I arrived at 15B I was greeted by my favorite (updated) 'Welcome to New York' sign!

On Friday I was able to catch up on my sleep while Brigham was taking a massive 7 hour practice bar exam. When he was done we ate hot dogs and saw Superman Returns. Brigham liked Superman Returns so much. I liked it too. Especially Kitty. After the movie we were walking around and passed the Manhattan Temple and found Maria inside! Maria, Brigham and I walked around looking at fun New York City things and then ended up at Schillers Liquor Bar. Maria hates having her picture taken so much so here is a picture of Brigham and I eating our meal as seen through the eyes of my Canon being operated by Maria who hates having her picture taken.

Brigham challenged me to plan out 24 hours of NYC adventure so Saturday was my day! First thing on the agenda, mani/pedis at Banyan CitiSpa of course!

Brigham did such a good job of liking his first mani/pedi. Sometimes I would look over at him and he was cringing so much and I thought maybe he was going to start crying but in the end I think he really liked it.

After the spa we ate lunch at Tomoe Sushi! This place was amazing and had the biggest pieces of tuna ever!

On Sunday Jeff the dentist (originally from our SF posse, more recently seen in Park City at the Heywood family reunion), Di and Karisa came over to Brighams and he made us his famous blue cheese hamburgers and tater tots.

Monday was New Jersey adventure day. Yes. You heard me. New Jersey adventure day!
We took the Path train under the Hudson River and arrived at our destination...Jersey City!

We tried to think of things to do in Jersey City that were authentic Jersey City type activities.
Jersey City type activity #1: Lunch at Chili's.

We had the Awesome Blossom Appetizer. We drank refillable sodas. We shared the fajitas for two. It was a fine lunch.

Jersey City type activity #2: Jersey City mall.
Jersey City type activity #3: Movie at the mall (Matine price:$6.50!! $6.50!!).
Jersey City type activity #4: Enjoying the Jersey City skyline.

Look how this building wishes it was the Transamerica Pyramid!

Jersey City type activity #5: Hating the extreme humidity.

Jersey City type activity #6: Ferry boat ride back to Manhattan.

After all the New Jersey fun we met up with millions of people to see a free comedy show. Di is so good at knowing about comedy!
Brigham, Di & Jeff!

The back of Mo's head and Kirk!

Mo, Josh and the back of Kirk's head!

Dave and Karisa!

Also, Maria was there but no pictures (obviously).

Dear New York City,
Wow. There you go again. Being so awesome. Best ever.
Sincerely,
Betsy

Why is Jeff in New York? This is all so confusing. Are you and Jeff and Cameron all moving to New York? Was this "Utah" excuse all a decoy so you all could recreate San Fran in New York?

    No no, don't worry Jordan.
Jeff & Cameron live in Utah.
I live in San Francisco (remember how we live in the same building?).

No one lives in New York except the people that already live there.

By the way once I talked Paul into getting a mani pedi but he backed out on the pedi part at the last minute. But even with the mani he DID NOT LIKE IT. I tried to explain how it was cool and metro sexual and that a lot of dudes get a man mani. He hasn't gone since and that was two years ago.

i was getting my nails done the other day and there were 2 guys in there getting theirs done as well. i suspect they were there to hit on the girls doing the mani/pedis, since they kept complimenting them on their shoes and things, but then one guy threw a fit because he thought his nails looked too shiny afterwords

Sorry about the anonymous lurker post, but I had to weigh in on the mani/pedi thing: as a not very metrosexual guy, I still prefer to cut my fingernails with my swiss army knife, or with scissors or a papercutter while bored at work... but I have had a pedicure or two, and, gotta say, it's great.
